The Atheist Afterlife presents a logical and detailed mechanism for the survival and context
of consciousness after the death of the body that is consistent with known law. It demonstrates that a rational afterlife is a possibility,
and that God is as irrelevant to the workings of an afterlife as He is to our present life.
But the purpose of this book is not to
convince people of the existence of an afterlife. The purpose of this book is to make the statement: If there is an afterlife, this
is its mechanism. Whether there’s an afterlife or not is a matter for us to decide as individuals, because there’s no evidence either
way; but if there is an afterlife, this is the only rational mechanism by which it could exist.
I believe that if you can’t express something simply, you don’t really understand it. I have therefore endeavoured to present the principles of a rational afterlife as clearly and simply as possible. I also believe that even the most serious of subjects can be discussed with humour, and in fact, communicated more effectively because of it. So if you laugh out loud while you’re reading, it might … just might … be funny on purpose!
Philosophy,
like science, is about finding the truth, whether we like it or not. This book has been written because philosophy matters. When we
get it right we can take great steps forward, personally and collectively, but when we get our philosophy wrong the consequences can
be dire. It is the responsibility of philosophers everywhere (and if you’re searching for wisdom, that means you) to learn the principles
that are at work in the world and keep them at the forefront of human consciousness.
